Is there a particular place in Ashford, or a memory, that’s important to you?
In Ashford that’s important to me – um – not off the top of my head I can’t think of anything. I’ve never really thought about Ashford like that, I can’t really think of anything off the top of my head. I’m from South Willesborough. I went to Norton Knatchbull. And now I’m at uni actually, Brunel, which is in West London. I’m studying Economics. I’m on my summer break, I finished my second year, so I’m actually just looking for a job now really – for the summer. I used to work at McDonalds, which was by my house, but I’m not really looking for that at the moment. Something a bit different.
And there’s no particular place where you’d hang out when you lived in Ashford?
I guess there’s a couple parks where we’d just hang out. It’s all – I’m not sure of the names, but the one by the Stour Centre – that big park there. Or Joey’s Wood which was by the school.

It was lovely to meet Vithusan and talk about the student to-and-fro from uni to Ashford and back again. If you’ve been on your own journeys between Ashford and other places and fancy turning your stories into a performance, come along to our first rehearsal for Humans of Ashford! Tomorrow from 12-5 in St Mary the Virgin Parish Rooms in the town centre.
